Cantinho de S. Pedro

Right on the outskirts of Sintra, in the satellite district São Pedro de Sintra, stands this traditional restaurant heavily patronized by local residents. Known for its regional cookery and fair prices, it is arguably the most typical tavern in the area. The chefs seem to know how to coax the most flavor from their regional produce. Fish and shellfish seem the most popular items -- hake quenelles, prawn crêpes, or baked salmon among the favorites. Meats are well chosen, and the kitchen is especially known for its entrecôtes, which come in a variety of ways ranging from grilled to mushrooms and cream.
