This is an extraordinary looking restaurant -- a regal 60-seat room under lavish 19th-century Louis Philippe-style plasterwork inside a grand, stone castle. You dine like a king here, but unfortunately the food doesn't always reach royal status. The menu can dazzle with its use of local produce and game in dishes such as supreme of chicken with Cashel blue cheese, or roast duckling with black cherry and port, but it can also disappoint with a provincial cooking style and unprofessional staff. As with the castle's hotel , this place has its fans and its enemies. Some love its unpredictability and localism, and some say they received dreadful service and worse food. But even many of the latter say it might be worth it just to dine in that gorgeous room.
