Everybody around here recommends the C. D. Cafe. People crowd into the bright, cozy spot for the rich assortment of things like savory cheesecake (walnut crust filled with herbed cheeses); Cajun shepherd's pie; and breast of chicken topped with pecans, apples, and an apple-schnapps glaze. Lunchtime salads are creative and tasty -- try the curried chicken. Brunch is served on Sundays.

Behind the cafe is the Next Door Lounge, a laid-back place to get light fare and drinks. Open Tuesday through Friday from 4:30 to 11pm, Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 to 11pm.
