Frommer's Review
The word ranch conjures up an image of a big ol' two-story house amid hundreds of rolling acres -- the kind of place where you laze away the day watching the grass grow or pitching horseshoes in the garden. Well, friend, you can have all that and more at the well-located Beltane Ranch, a century-old buttercup-yellow manor that has been everything from a bunkhouse to a brothel to a turkey farm. You simply can't help but feel your tensions ease away as you prop up your feet on the shady, wraparound porch overlooking the quiet vineyards and sip a cool, fruity chardonnay while reading Lonesome Dove for the third time. Each room is uniquely decorated with American and European antiques; all have sitting areas and separate entrances. A big, creative country breakfast is served in the garden or on the porch overlooking the vineyards. For exercise, you can play tennis on the private court or hike the trails meandering through the 105-acre estate. The staff here is knowledgeable and helpful. Tip: Request one of the upstairs rooms, which have the best views.
Facilities:
Tennis court (unlit)

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
