Frommer's Review
Set beside the coastal road stretching between Bluefields and Whitehouse, this restaurant is housed within an aristocratic-looking blue-painted villa that originally functioned as the childhood home of its owners and chef. The cozy and scarlet-colored interior opens to reveal a view of a formal garden and putting-green lawns that sweep down to the edge of the sea in vistas that evoke a tropical view of the English countryside. The charming owner is Ann Lyons, a former editor at a New York City publishing house. She directs a polite, well-rehearsed staff who prepare flavorful food that's considerably broader in scope -- and more sophisticated -- than anything else in the area. Menu items include locally caught fish that might be blackened, New Orleans-style; escoveitch of fish (a whole fish served in a peppery vinegar sauce); quesadillas stuffed with guacamole; or curried banana soup. Dessert may include Key lime cake, mango cheesecake, Blue Mountain coffee flan, or a frothy version of Pavlova -- fruit and whipped cream in a meringue shell.
