The Woods Inn Review

We love the look of this welcoming, historic inn on Fourth Lake. Outside, the building is painted a cheerful yellow, while inside the place is just as appealing, with a friendly staff, and airy and comfortable rooms done up loosely in the Great Camp style. Some rooms lean toward the woodsy with twig tables, chairs, and lamps, while others are more Victorian in spirit, with dark wood and antique furnishings. All are spacious and bright; we recommend room no. 103, which comes with a private balcony overlooking the lake. Feeling outdoorsy? Stay in one of the three "Adirondack Guide" tents, built on wooden platforms and tricked out with wood-burning stoves, electric lights, and granite sinks. Consider yourself warned: With the rocking chairs on the wraparound porch, the pool table and inviting pub downstairs, and tasty food from the kitchen (try the tuna tataki and the pizzas), you might not want to leave the property. Another bonus: The public beach is just a short walk away.

Facilities:
Restaurant; lounge

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
