Each of the seven worldwide species of sea turtles are either threatened or endangered, and five species are found in the Gulf of Mexico. Sea Turtle was founded in 1977 by Ila Loetscher, affectionately dubbed the "Turtle Lady," for the main purpose of protecting and preserving the most endangered species, Kemp's ridley. The organization supports conservation and rehabilitation of all marine turtles. Volunteer presentations with live sea turtles, Tuesdays and Saturdays at 10am, will help you identify the different species and explain how each of us can help protect them.
