In Elgin -- Many B&Bs lie two blocks north of the rail station between Moray Street and Moss Street. Our favorite is Richmond Bed & Breakfast, 48 Moss St. (tel. 01343/542-5611; www.milford.co.uk/go/richmondelgin.html). It offers handsomely furnished, comfortable double rooms, all with private bathrooms with tub or shower, costing only £40 to £50 ($76-$95) per night. No credit cards are accepted.
