The Elk has been around since the early 1900s when it was the Elk Drug Company, supplying medicines and soda fountain treats to neighborhood residents. Today it has been restored and turned into a chic little pub serving the best of Northwest microbrews, along with such unusual pub fare as grilled lamb sandwiches and Caribbean prawn sandwiches. The excellent and unusual chicken Caesar soft tacos are my top choice for a light lunch. During the warmer months, try to get a table out front on the sidewalk patio. This is one of Spokane's best bets for cheap eats.
