The Davenport Hotel and Tower ReviewFar and away the state's finest hotel east of Seattle, this restored grande dame is an absolute work of art. Originally opened in 1914, the Davenport has an astonishingly ornate Spanish Renaissance lobby that is way over the top and lends the feel of a European palace. The many ballrooms, each of which draws on different European periods and countries for styling, continue the palatial feel of the hotel. However, the highlight is the Hall of the Doges, where you should be sure to sneak a peek while you're here. Guest rooms are as classically elegant as the lobby, with hand-carved furniture imported from Indonesia. This should be your first choice of hotel in Spokane if cost is no object. The tower portion of the hotel is a modern, though equally impressive, hotel across the street from the main hotel. Facilities: 3 restaurants (Continental, American); 3 lounges; 2 indoor pools; 2 exercise rooms; access to nearby health club; full-service spa; 2 Jacuzzis; concierge; business center; shopping arcade; 24-hr. room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. | 2 stars | Frommer's Very Highly Recommended | |
| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
