Frommer's Review
This little boutique hotel in downtown Spokane is in a building constructed in 1899. Although the street-level lobby is small and very understated, the Montvale also has a much bigger second-floor lobby with the feel of a living room in a rustic lodge or old-fashioned men's club. A large skylight bathes it in natural light, and a third-floor mezzanine frames the space. Guest rooms have a timeless, classic feel and meld antiques, antique reproductions, and classic and contemporary art. They have plush mattresses, flatscreen or wall-hung LCD TVs, and large bathrooms with both tubs and showers.
