Frommer's Review

This all-inclusive chain resort, covering 18 hectares (44 acres) along a peninsula dotted with palm trees, opens onto one of the finest beaches in the French West Indies. The renovated guest rooms tend to be small, but have good beds. (All but 10 units have twin beds; the others have queen-size beds.) Tiled and shower-only bathrooms are compact and short on amenities. The building known as Marie-Galante contains the resort's largest and most comfortable rooms (each with a terrace or veranda). This resort was closed for a full nine months in 2006 for a radical renovation of the premises, wherein walls were demolished that had previously separated some of the smaller, boxier rooms, leading to the creation of fewer, but larger, units, and an increase in the percentage of suites.

Children are welcome here, and their numbers are particular visible during periods of school holidays on the French mainland. Consequently, there's been a recent upgrade in the children's facilities here, with a "Mini-Club" with child-minding and day-camp facilities, which keep young children and teenagers amused and diverted when their parents are either at rest or at play. Despite that, however, this resort tends to attract lots of adult couples and singles. The resort has an annex containing only single rooms, a boon for solo travelers. The meals here are nothing if not generous. The breakfast and lunch buffet tables groan with French, Continental, and Creole food. Dinner is served in the main dining room or in the candlelit, more romantic annex restaurant beside the sea. There's live entertainment several nights a week, sometimes a Brazil-inspired samba band, and once a week, usually on Monday, the Guadeloupe folklore ballet, Les Ballets Guadeloupéans.

Facilities: 2 restaurants; 2 bars; outdoor pool; 4 tennis courts; gym; aerobics; archery; basketball; fitness center; volleyball; kayaks; snorkeling; scuba diving; windsurfing; children's program; laundry service; dry cleaning; rooms for those w/limited mobility; night club
