Located in downtown Steamboat Springs in an 1886 building that once housed the Harwigs saddle shop, this fine dining establishment serves French cuisine with an Asian flair in an elegant candlelit atmosphere enhanced by live piano music. Owner-Chef Jamie Jenny, who opened the eatery in 1979, keeps the menu fresh and diverse, but main courses might include selections such as New Orleans jambalaya with chicken, shrimp, duck, and house sausage simmered in a fiery Creole sauce; or two-mushroom veal, medallions of veal sautéed with shallots and shiitake and button mushrooms in a white-wine cream sauce. Our favorite item here is one of the cheapest -- the half-pound chargrilled lamb burger with strawberry-green apple chutney and provolone cheese. Service is superb, there's an award-winning wine cellar, and outdoor seating is available.
