Frommer's Review

Among our top choices in Steamboat Springs, the Hotel Bristol offers lodging with character. Rooms are small (150 sq. ft.), in keeping with the heritage of this historic hotel, built in the 1940s. In fact, the reason we like this place so much is the historic ambience -- Zane Grey may not have stayed here, but if he had he would have felt right at home. The standard rooms are what we consider sophisticated Old West, refined but not fancy, with solid dark-wood furnishings, lots of brass, Pendleton wool blankets, and reproduction 1940s-style phones. Rooms have one queen-size bed or two twins, and a bathroom with shower only (no tub). The former caretaker's unit has been converted into two suites with sleeper sofas in the living rooms and TVs with DVD players. The family units, which accommodate four people, are two standard rooms, each with its own toilet and sink, and a shared tub/shower combo. This is an especially quiet downtown lodging choice, in large part because it was built of concrete for fire prevention, a major concern in the 1940s. An on-site restaurant serves dinner daily. High-speed wireless Internet access is available throughout the property.

Facilities:
Restaurant (Italian); 6-person indoor whirlpool
