In a lovely seaside setting, Antoine serves fine, comfortingly retro-bistro food with sophistication and style. The handsome room decked with jungle-themed Haitian masterworks, Delft tile, hurricane lanterns, old phonographs, and towering floral arrangements further sets the scene for romance. I always start with the chef's savory kettle of fish soup, escargots de Bourgogne, or the almost translucent sea scallops Nantaise. You can't go wrong with the baked red snapper filet delicately flavored with shallots and a white-wine butter sauce, shrimp scampi flambéed with Pastis, or grilled local lobster. And desserts are satisfyingly sinful. Antoine occasionally opens for basic lunches (though some dinner items are available).
