Alamanda Resort

Small and intimate, like a European beachfront inn, the Alamanda opens onto Orient Bay's beautiful beach. The resort is a cluster of Creole cazes, or little houses, surrounding a lushly landscaped outdoor pool quite near the beach. The Alamanda has few drawbacks, one being that not all rooms have ocean views. Bedrooms are spacious and done up in soothing earth tones, with decorative accents in bold colors from sunflower yellow to tomato red, or pineapple patterns. The king-size beds are elegantly carved, often a four-poster. The best accommodations are the 2-bedroom duplexes with a second bathroom. Our favorite place to dine here is at Kakao Beach restaurant, featuring both Creole and European specialties in a laid-back Caribbean atmosphere. A less expensive choice is the Alamanda Café, with an inventive tropical cuisine served at poolside.
