Frommer's Review
This is St. Maarten's most Vegas-style venue, if only for adopting that destination's gourmet aspirations. The owner/developer cleverly attracted top restaurateurs by offering competitive rents for the eight eateries. The interior is fairly posh if you don't look too closely: mirrored ceilings, Christmas lights, faux plants, lipstick red accents, and murals and frescoes, mostly depicting cherubs cavorting in azure skies or surreal encounters between Renaissance figures and islanders. Atlantis features all the major table games, as well as more than 500 slot and video poker machines. It tends to attract a more mature, settled crowd: tonsorially challenged guys chomping on cigars and tan women who look like aging Lakers Girls, as well as junior corporate sharks in the Texas Hold 'Em poker room, who learned the game from ESPN.
