King and Prince Beach Resort ReviewThis is a midsize oceanfront resort founded in 1932 by partners who were evicted from the Jekyll Island Club. Today's reincarnation of five Spanish-style buildings is a venue for frequent corporate conventions. The resort has grown and expanded over the years, and in time has attracted many famous guests. But Hugh Hefner and his Playboy bunnies haven't been seen romping around since the 1950s. The original 70 guest rooms are still here but have been restored. Even better are the newer and larger rooms with expanded bathrooms, some offering private patios or balconies. Darker woods evoke a decidedly English influence, but other brighter appointments suggest a West Indian plantation style. The condo apartments have kitchenettes. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
