Pleasant, conservative, quiet, and isolated in a verdant location about a mile north of the center of Stuttgart, this imposing stone-sided building dates from 1903, when it was constructed at the edge of a wooded stretch of land known as Killesberg Park. Many visitors opt for at least some exposure to the great outdoors, often with morning jogs or brisk walks through the footpaths in the park. The building's interior was radically modernized in the mid-1980s, leaving a clean, efficient, and blandly modern collection of public areas flooded with sunlight and, in many cases, views of the park.

The cuisine has French and international overtones. Residents of the hotel dine in a room devoted exclusively to them; nonresidents eat in a cozy dining room known as Der Kleine Fritz.
