Hancock House Hotel ReviewIn downtown Hancock, but within walking distance of the Delaware River, this new hotel is designed to look and feel considerably older: It's fashioned after a 19th-century hotel of the same name that once stood in town (and where FDR once gave a speech from the balcony in 1929 as governor of New York). They're good-sized and tastefully appointed with Mission furniture and top-quality linens -- and are quite a good deal. The hotel has extra features, such as Honest Eddie's Tap Room and the '50s-style Fannie's Café (serving breakfast and lunch) that make it especially appealing to groups and families that don't necessarily want to venture out for meals. | 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
