The Sun Valley Resort (tel. 800/786-8259 or 208/622-2151; www.sunvalley.com) offers more than 500 rooms, ranging from the original lodge and inn to more than 100 apartments and condominiums. High-season rates in winter are higher on weekends and much higher over the holidays; a basic hotel double starts around $239 and goes up quickly. Minimum stays may apply. Off-season rates (spring and fall) are about 25% less. There are not many bargain rates in the Sun Valley area, but a couple of lower-priced hotels offer high-season rooms between $140 and $160, and discounted off-season rates. Best Western Kentwood Lodge, 180 S. Main St. (tel. 800/805-1001 or 208/726-4114; www.bestwestern.com/kentwoodlodge), is in the heart of Ketchum, and the Best Western Tyrolean Lodge, 260 Cottonwood St. (tel. 800/333-7912 or 208/726-5336; www.bestwestern.com), is by the River Run chairlift.
