Frommer's Review
Thai Terrific by name, terrific Thai by nature. This simple, but great place on the right night is around the corner from the Bondi Hotel. Sometimes it falls a little short on service and sometimes the food doesn't quite hit the right note, but when it's spot-on it's fabulous. The back room can be noisy, so if you prefer less din with your dinner, sit at one of the sidewalk tables. The servings are enormous -- three people could fill up on just two main courses. The tom yum (hot-and-sour) soups and spicy prawn or seafood laksa noodle soups (made with coconut milk) are the best I've tasted in Australia and very filling. I also highly recommend the red curries.
Equally nice (and quieter) is the Bangkok-style Nina's Ploy Thai Restaurant, 132 Wairoa Ave. (tel. 02/9365 1118), at the corner of Warners Avenue at the end of the main Campbell Parade strip. Main courses here cost A$10 to A$15 (US$8-US$12/UK£4UK£6); cash only.
