Frommer's Review

For a room with a view, you're not going to do better than this ultramodern landmark hotel with a touch of Asian flair. It's just a 5-minute walk from Circular Quay. Try to book a room on the 20th floor or above: From here, Sydney and its harbor are laid out at your feet, with ferries buzzing around below you like bathtub toys. All rooms are contemporarily furnished and rely on the views perhaps more than the decor to impress. The top five room floors, from level 29 to 34, have use of the Horizon Club lounge. This supplies breakfast and evening canapés. The trendy Café Mix, on level one, serves breakfasts and has a good lunch and dinner buffet with Contemporary and Asian-style meals (including Japanese). Also here is The Rocks Teppanyaki restaurant, which serves good Japanese cuisine. The stylish Altitude restaurant and Blue Horizon Bar (both on the 36th floor) have panoramic harbor views. The associated historic Harts Pub, at street level, offers a lunchtime Aussie barbecue in the beer garden Tuesdays to Fridays.

Facilities:
2 restaurants; lounge; 2 bars; heated indoor pool; exercise room; Jacuzzi; sauna; concierge; business center; salon; 24-hr. room service; babysitting; laundry service; currency exchange; early-arrivals/late-departures lounge

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
