Quay Grand Suites Sydney Review

The best serviced-apartment complexes, like this one, can outdo superior AAA-rated five-star hotels -- even in price. This building, on the pedestrian concourse leading up to the Sydney Opera House, also houses private apartments costing upwards of A$850,000 (US$765,000/£385,000) -- so you know you are in exclusive territory. The spacious, ultramodern apartments either face the Botanic Gardens or have fantastic views across the ferry terminals and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The fully equipped units have balconies so you can admire the views. The noises from the CityRail station (including train announcements) and the ferry horns are captivating but can easily be shut out. Bathrooms are large and feature good-size Jacuzzis. You might want to eat at the hotel's Quadrant restaurant, which serves Contemporary food and has spectacular views to Circular Quay and the harbor. The bar is the trendy ECQ. The Dendy cinema, in the same strip, has good art-house movies.

Facilities:
Restaurant; bar; small health club; concierge; 24-hr. room service; massage; babysitting; laundry service; dry cleaning; nonsmoking rooms

About Our System

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.

Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.

The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
