Frommer's Review
The New York Times published an article in November 2006 in which Tricketts was described as the best bed-and-breakfast accommodations in the Southern Hemisphere. While that's quite a claim, as soon as I walked into this atmospheric old place, I wanted to ditch my modern Sydney apartment and move in. Your first impression as you enter the tessellated, tiled corridor of the 1880s Victorian mansion is the jumble of plants and ornaments, the high ceilings, the Oriental rugs, and the leaded windows. Guests relax over a decanter of port or with a magazine on wicker furniture on the veranda overlooking fairly busy Glebe Point Road. The guest rooms are quiet and homey. My favorites are no. 2, with its wooden floorboards and king-size bed, and The Honey Room Suite -- with an 1820s king-size four-poster bed. There's a nice courtyard out back. The owner, Liz Tricketts, is a delight and is a rich source of Sydney's history.
