Vibe Hotels have been making quite an impact over the last couple of years, with new properties opening up in Sydney, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast. This one, on the far side of Kings Cross, is the flagship. Compared to other hotels in this price bracket this really is a bargain, especially when you book online. This large hotel has a good cafe, called Curve, brightly colored rooms with all you need, a heated rooftop swimming pool, and a good gym. Sister hotels Vibe Hotel Sydney (111 Goulburn St.; tel. 02/8372 3300; rooms A$140-A$170/US$112-US$136/UK£56-UK£68) and Vibe North Sydney, are a little less glamorous, but considering their positions and the price of real estate in Sydney these days they too pull off great prices. Vibe North Sydney (88 Alfred St., Milsons Point; tel. 02/9955 1111; around A$200/US$160/UK£80 a standard room), is very close to North Sydney Olympic Pool, which almost laps up to the far edge of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. From here, one stop of the CityRail network brings you to Wynyard in the center of the city.
