Frommer's Review
One of Tahiti's last large, thatched-roof buildings covers this restaurant beside the lagoon (you can toss bread crumbs to the fish swimming just over the railing). The food is not the best on the island, but you can't beat the old Tahitian charm. Specialties of the house are grilled steaks and lobster. Get here early to graze the all-you-can-eat lunchtime salad bar, which is so popular with locals that it quickly disappears. One of the island's top Tahitian dance troupes performs here Friday and Saturday nights after a seafood buffet -- the 5,000CFP (US$63/£32) per person price is an excellent value compared to the resort hotels' buffets and dance shows. You can sample local food at the ma'a Tahiti buffet Sunday at noon. A pier goes out to the Lagoonarium here.
