Restaurants

In Tai'an, the Baihua Canting restaurant in the Tai Shan Binguan (tel. 0538/826-9977; 7-9am, 11:30am-2pm, and 5:30-9pm) offers decent Chinese food in a clean environment. Simply point to choose. A meal for two costs ¥60 to ¥80. Huanqiu Xishi Mianbao Fang, Hongmen Lu 7, sells pastries and snacks for the long hike. A McDonald's is at Sheng Ping Lu 2, and a KFC is next to the railway station.

On the mountain, food is comparatively more expensive along the trail and on the summit than in town. Trailside vendors offer ice cream, bottled drinks, instant noodles, and boiled eggs. At the summit, Shenqi Binguan has a restaurant that serves basic Chinese fare (jiachang cai) as well as delicacies made from local ingredients such as pheasants, wild vegetables, and local medicinal herbs. A meal for two is ¥80 to ¥120.
