Review of St. Michaels MuseumSmall towns usually have small memorials to their past and that's certainly true here. Two 19th-century buildings have been joined together to create a gallery of old photos and artifacts in one while maintaining the Sewell House as it was when the Sewells and their six children lived here. Needlework samplers and a fine collection of quilts and toys are interesting. The gallery's photos, produced by a Sewell descendant, and the changing exhibits highlight the town's history as a waterman's town. Tours highlighting the waterfront and the early life of Frederick Douglass begin here. They are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
