Frommer's Review
Since the 1950s, when it attracted starlets and millionaires (when being a millionaire actually meant something), Auberge du Père-Bise has radiated style and charm. A chalet built in 1901 and renovated many times since, it's one of France's most acclaimed -- and expensive -- restaurants. In fair weather you can dine under a vine-covered pergola and enjoy the view of mountains and the lake. The kitchen excels at dishes such as mousse of foie gras, layered potatoes with truffles and foie gras, delicate young lamb, and gratin of crayfish tails.
The inn also offers 34 guest rooms with minibars and TV. Rates are 300€ to 400€ ($390-$520) for a double and 580€ ($754) for a suite. Reserve at least 2 months in advance, especially in summer.
