There's a fair choice of dining options in Tangier, as you'd expect from a bustling port city. Finding something different from the usual Moroccan/international combination, however, proves difficult. At the time of writing, there were rumors that a Thai and perhaps a Japanese restaurant were going to open, but for the time my recommendations revolve around the city's best offerings of traditional and nouvelle Marocain cuisine, and those restaurants influenced by Morocco's neighbors across the Mediterranean.
At last count there were almost 15 beachfront restaurants below the street level of avenue Mohammed VI. And though most aren't particularly renowned for their food, a lot of them offer a lively atmosphere during the summer months. Once the holiday season tapers off, however, some of them close their doors. Besides a notable exception mentioned here, it's best to simply wander along the beach promenade and see what takes your fancy.
