Nightlife

Finding somewhere to drink isn't a problem in Tangier; it's finding somewhere decent that's the challenge. Most of the bars from Tangier's decadent past have closed down or are in an irretrievable state of unfriendly seediness. Apart from the riad restaurants, the medina is strictly nonalcoholic -- a situation that hasn't changed for 50 years -- and perhaps as a consequence, there's been no nightlife development here. The beach strip, on the other hand, sees new or refurbished bars open their doors every summer. After extensive research, the list compiled below is a good mix of local and friendly, colonial and modern.
