Hotel Europa ReviewOf the lackluster hotels in town, this restored 19th-century hotel is the best of the lot. Enjoying a panoramic perch over Mare Piccolo, it opens onto views of the Città Vecchia (old town), the sea, the Castello Aragonese, and the bridge, Ponte Girevole. The entryway and public halls are somber yet have a refined elegance, and the bar is one of the town's best rendezvous points in the evening. The accommodations offer the guest a range of options -- elegant mansard suites, small apartments, or singles. Each is furnished in a tasteful, contemporary mode; and the suites are especially delectable, as they open onto small balconies fronting the sea.
