Riad Maryam ReviewThis is a riad in every sense of the word, with overwhelming hospitality, home-cooked food, and a lived-in feel that isn't luxurious -- but doesn't pretend to be, either. Habib and Latifa Moultazim don't speak a word of English, but that hasn't stopped them from greeting a steady stream of guests from around the globe into their family riad. Their five-bedroom house surrounds a large central courtyard with twin, bird-friendly gardens with umbrellas, orange trees, banana palms, and bougainvillea, separated by a dining area with a long, communal table. The rooms are more quirky than quaint, and haphazardly furnished but perfectly adequate. Three rooms can take at least one extra bed, which is a plus for families. Not all rooms have a private bathroom, but the common bathrooms are spotlessly clean. Latifa's kitchen produces some of the best Moroccan food I've tasted and negates the need to deal with the lack of quality restaurants in Taroudannt. Habib can organize any day trip or activities, including a day drive/trek into the Anti-Atlas for 300dh. Or, if you just want to stay in, the courtyard is entirely bordered with cushions and lounges, plus there are a satellite TV and a CD player. Facilities: Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Please be sure to confirm all rates and details directly with the companies in question before planning your trip.

| 3 stars | Frommer's Exceptional |
Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
