A plaque in Spanish explains that most of the collection of pre-Columbian art displayed here, as well as the funds for the museum, came from William Spratling (1900-1967). You'd expect this to be a silver museum, but it's not -- for Spratling silver, go to the Spratling Ranch Workshop. The entrance floor and the one above display a good collection of pre-Columbian statues and implements in clay, stone, and jade. The upper floor holds changing exhibits.
