Frommer's Review
Strangely enough, trendy Tel Aviv remains Israel's center for East European Jewish cooking, and Batya, presided over by the wonderful Batya Yom Tov, is one of the oldest restaurants specializing in this traditional cuisine. You'll step into a delicious, precholesterol-conscious world of kreplach, golden chicken soup, chopped liver, stew, duck with Polish mustard sauce, baked Shabbat pudding, and brisket with potatoes. Decor is no-frills, and a good part of Batya's clientele has probably been patronizing the restaurant since it was established in 1941.
