With a 3-decade-long run, Yakimono is the oldest sushi restaurant in Tel Aviv -- other places come and go, but no one else has mastered the long-term logistics of obtaining and serving the freshest fish possible for sushi and sashimi. You'll always find a changing selection of fresh sushi and sashimi of the day, as well as shrimp, cuttlefish, octopus, and eel, along with tempuras and ramen noodle soups. The restaurant is justly proud of its seaweed, cucumber-skin, and salmon-skin hand rolls. There is an authentic sushi counter as well as tables in a large enclosed sidewalk veranda. Tip: A kosher version of Yakimono has been set up at the Hilton Hotel, which has a demanding Japanese clientele.
