Frommer's Review
The creation of Shaul Evron, an Israeli journalist and food writer, Yoe'ezer Wine Bar is a gourmand's dream tucked under the cavernous arches of a building that dates from Crusader times. Here you can sit for hours talking and sampling excellent wines and brandies as well as fine breads and cheeses, a rich pâté de Champagne, a confit de foie gras, antipasti as beautiful as a still life, exquisite veal liver (usually fresh on Mon), and oysters flown in from Brittany at the week's end. You can keep things simple, or go on to main courses that include prime rib and a memorable beef bourguignon, or a fine, thick heart of entrecôte steak. Quality and skill show in all dishes, and prices are reasonable enough that you can put together a virtual banquet. A plate of fine Israeli cheese and bread is NIS 32 ($7), and the wine list runs from expensive imports to well chosen and very reasonably priced Israeli wines. Desserts, which include Belgian chocolate cake, are splendid.
