Frommer's Review
The venerable Abu Nassar Seafood Restaurant has now joined forces with the Hinawis, a family famous for procuring the best meats in Jaffa. Together, they hold forth in a large modern glass pavilion with a thatch-roofed terrace for dining and taking in the sunset. Here you can be sure of fresh fish and tender, aged meats in good portions for a fair price. Early in the evening, you'll find both Israeli Arab and Jewish families enjoying everything on their plates. Later, the atmosphere is more leisurely. To start the meal there's a traditional mezze of excellent Arabic salads at NIS 16 ($3.50) per person for six selections, served with a basket of toasted garlic pita. As an appetizer, or as a larger main course, the fresh calamari stuffed with shrimps, pine nuts, and parsley in garlic and butter sauce is exquisitely rich and succulent. Grilled sea bass usually tops the list of fresh fish selections, all of which are served with french fries and vegetables. Grilled shrimp is also a popular choice. Simply grilled sirloin and filet mignon top a long list of meat choices. The location, overlooking Jabalya Beach, 1 1/2 miles south of Old Jaffa, is in an interesting residential part of the city, inhabited by Jewish, Christian and Muslim families.
