The most famous of the cafe/restaurants on Sheinkin Street, Orna and Ella offers a homey sense of intimacy and perhaps reminds yuppies from North Tel Aviv of their grandparents' British Mandate-era apartments. It's got great pastries, brioche, and espresso, but there is also a short menu of choice sandwiches, salads, pastas, and the signature sweet potato pancakes and goose breast hamburger. The lines are often out the door, and not just because customers tend to linger over conversation -- the cafe would not be so successful without food that's a cut above the rest. The waiters are young and very Israeli.
