Frommer's Review
Atmosphere, plus the amazing, inventive food of Nir Zook (chef/owner of the luxury Cordelia restaurant) make this a wonderful choice for a leisurely, gourmet meal that won't break the bank. The menu is tasty and ever-changing, including unusual salads, goat cheeses from Zook's own farm, a great house liver pate, and many of Nir Zook's signature creations, such as shakshuka (a Middle Eastern spicy pan-fried egg and tomato casserole) -- made here with shrimp. Look for fresh sea fish filet in tomatoes and vine leaves; chicken breast in eggplant; fabulous homemade pastas; and spicy North African sausages. On the meat side of the menu, you'll find entrecote lavishly covered with mushrooms, and Zook's own interpretation of traditional Middle Eastern meat and hummus casserole. There's a six-dish tasting menu for NIS 95 ($21); a good bar and wine list, and a big menu of luxurious brunches. The setting, in a complex of Crusader-era buildings, is what memories are made of.
