Frommer's Review
On the inland side of Ha-Yarkon Street, with a great, close-to-the-beach location, this convenient, well-run, Atlas-chain seven-story hotel looks smaller from the outside than it really is. The Basel offers a functional lobby larger than that of most hotels in its class, and comfortable guest rooms with medium-firm beds. Most rooms are in the depths of the building, away from street noise. Though the Basel is in the heart of the swanky beachfront hotel district, you have to detour a block around the divided Ha-Yarkon Street underpass if you're going to the beach on foot. Like most Israeli hotels, the Basel hasn't had a major renovation in a while, but it remains a comparative gem. Higher rates are in July and August; good discounts are often available.
Facilities:
Restaurant; cafe/bar; outdoor pool; salon; limited room service; free Wi-Fi in lobby

Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
