This storefront bistro has ruled the Great Barrington roost for some time now, along the way installing what it calls a "Celestial Bar" in the next building, with live jazz piano 6 nights a week in summer and around weekends the rest of the year. Classic foreign films are often shown Monday nights, with three-course dinners at $24. While a Francophilic inclination is apparent in the main room (hello, steak au poivre), it isn't overpowering -- rack of lamb and the pistachio-crusted chicken with mango sauce are other possibilities. Have a drink at the bar while you're checking out the night's menu, or stay there for such casual eats as burgers, pizzas, and cheese plates. An award-winning wine list is another reason to stop in.
