Brix Wine Bar ReviewWhat a refreshing antidote to the largely forlorn Pittsfield dining landscape! The enthusiasm of the owners and staff for their 34-seat enterprise is infectious, the kind that brings patrons back over and over again. Wine is a priority, obviously, and every effort is made to instruct newbies and cosset sophisticates. There are over 50 pressings available by the glass, more than you're likely to see this side of Paris. Flights of four wines cost only $10. The eats are tantalizing and geared to the smallest or largest of appetites, running from such sandwiches as the combination of roasted lamb, pickled red onions, and baby arugula to plates of charcuterie, cheese, and savory tarts -- simply keep ordering until sated. Brix, by the way, is named for the inventor of a refractometer used to measure the sugar content of grapes. Note: This information was accurate when it was published, but can change without notice. Frommer's ranks every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment it reviews for quality, value, service, amenities, and special features using a star-rating scale, an expression of the strong compare-and-contrast opinions that are a brand hallmark.
Other ratings provide stars based primarily on price and amenities; the Frommer's star rating is meant to quantify the kind of intangible, experiential elements that help travelers make informed decisions.
The "baseline" recommendation is zero stars--every hotel, restaurant, attraction, shop, and nightlife establishment that Frommer's chooses to review is recommended; otherwise, we simply wouldn't include it.
