Frommer's Review
Up on a hill, overlooking the rocky coastline of Long Island's easternmost point, this museum boasts a bevy of artifacts and a great view. Commissioned by Congress under George Washington in 1792 and completed in 1796, the first lighthouse in New York State has old exhibits of historical documents and the lonely life of a lighthouse keeper. There's also a 110-foot tower that you can climb for a stunning view of the ocean, the coastline, and the dense scrub lining the road from the town of Montauk.
