Southampton Inn

Set on extensive grounds with a conference center, pool, tennis court, children's play area, game room, and other fun activities for kids, this inn is more of a resort destination, but it's just around the corner from the town's chic shops and restaurants. And with the inn's free shuttle to the beach in summer, the nightmare of parking near Southampton sand vanishes. It's the kind of place that caters to everyone -- families, groups, couples, even pet lovers -- and does a good job making everyone happy. Standard rooms are very comfortable (Tempur-Pedic mattresses!) and spacious, and come loaded with amenities, making for a good value, even in the heart of summer. Try to reserve one of the stylish "Designer queens," if possible. OSO, opened in 2008, specializes in steak, seafood, and locally grown produce -- and, believe it or not, it's reasonably priced.
