Frommer's Review
With the noteworthy exception of the Cap Est Lagoon Resort and Spa (above), this is the most upscale and elegant hotel in this part of Martinique. Meals here are taken on the wide veranda of a 1880s French colonial-style house that sits on a hillside about 90m (300 ft.) from the seafront. Your hosts are entrepreneurs José Saint-Rose and Jean-Christophe Yo-Yo, who will welcome you, organize your meal (only if you phone in your intentions a day in advance), and cook sublime food. Menu items combine the aesthetics of France and the Antilles. Among the best examples are a terrine of foie gras with a compote of apples; an herb-enriched combination of scallops and dorado (mahimahi) in puff pastry; and a well-prepared filet of beef served with red-butter sauce.
There are also 16 units, each with private bathroom. The owners have spent lots of money reworking the layouts, upgrading the accommodations and the restaurant, and adding four all-new suites, each with its private small-scale swimming pool. In winter season, doubles cost 181€ to 219€ ($253-$307); suites 292€ to 316€ ($409-$442); off season, doubles go for 136€ to 155€ ($190-$217); suites 221€ ($309). Rates include breakfast. There's a beach within a walk of about 275m (900 ft.), and a formal-looking rectangular swimming pool, but in most cases, whatever distractions and diversions appeal to you, you'll have to organize on your own.
