Banks -- Bank Mizrachi at the corner of the Pedestrian Mall and Ha-Banim Street has an outdoor ATM that is connected to Visa, MasterCard, and Cirrus and NYCE systems.

Bookstores -- Steimatzky is located at 3 Ha Galil St. (tel. 04/679-1288), open Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am to 1pm and 4:30 to 7pm; Tuesday 8am to 1pm; Friday 8am to 2pm; and closed Saturday. You can get area maps and English-language newspapers here, such as the Jerusalem Post and the Herald Tribune (which includes the English edition of Ha'aretz). Come early if you want a weekend paper on Friday morning.

Emergencies -- Magen David Adom (tel. 100 or 04/679-0111), at the corner of Ha-Banim and Ha-Kishon streets across from the Jordan River Hotel, is open 24 hours.

Maps -- Steimatzky bookstore and the Tiberia Tourist Information Office sell a selection of regional road maps. In addition to standard road maps, look for Corazin Publishing's fold-out Go Galilee and Map of the Galilee, Golan and the Northern Valleys. It costs about NIS 22 ($5.50/£2.75); Corazin also publishes the map The Northern Coast and Western Galilee. Corazin maps are filled with details and explanations about historical and natural sites throughout Israel.
