Getting There

By Bus -- Buses depart daily for Tinerhir from Casablanca (11 hr.; 150dh/$19/£9.40); Er Rachidia (3 hr.; 35dh-50dh/$4.40-$6.25/£2.20-£3.15); Erfoud (4 hr.; 50dh/$6.25/£3.15); Marrakech (10 hr.; 100dh/$13/£6.25); and Ouarzazate (5 hr.; 45dh/$5.65/£2.80). They operate on, or across the road from, place Principale, on the west side of the gardens in the center of town.

By Grand Taxi -- Grands taxis operate throughout the day to Tinerhir from Ouarzazate (4 hr.; 55dh/$6.90/£3.45) via Boumalne du Dadès (1 hr.; 15dh/$1.90/95p); Erfoud (3 hr.; 50dh/$6.25/£3.15); and Er Rachidia (3 hr.; 50dh/$6.25/£3.15). Grands taxis park on the east side of the gardens. From here you can also catch a grand taxi heading up the Todra Palmerie to the gorge (30 min.; 10dh/$1.25/65p). Chartering one for the return journey to Todra Gorge will cost around 200dh ($25/£13) for a couple of hours.

Fast Facts

In the bustling town center of Tinerhir, you'll find most services within a .5km (1/3 mile) along avenue Mohammed V, the main Ouarzazate-Er Rachidia road.

At the west end of this stretch are branches of the banks BMCE (tel. 024/870694), Credit du Maroc (tel. 024/803562), and Banque Populaire (tel. 024/894138), all with ATMs and bureaux de change, open Monday to Friday 8:15am to 3:45pm.

Tinerhir's post office is in the grand taxi parking lot on the east side of the gardens. It's open Monday to Friday 8am to 4:15pm and Saturday 8 to 11:45am.

Pharmacie Todgha (tel. 024/834166) is at the east end of avenue Mohammed V, open Monday to Friday 8:30am to 12:30pm and 3:30 to 7:30pm, and Saturday 8:30am to 12:30pm.

Internet can be accessed at Fecom, in the small square off avenue Mohammed V, opposite the gardens. The store also sells computer accessories and blank CDs, and is open daily 8:30am to noon and 3 to 8pm.

Labo Photo al Fath, next to Pharmacie Todgha, sells and processes film and has a small stock of memory cards, batteries, and battery chargers. It's open daily 9am to noon and 2:30 to 8pm.
