It's a bit hard to ferret out the location of this third-floor British pub tucked away on a small side street not far from the Ameya Yokocho market, but if you find yourself in Ueno after a day of sightseeing this is the best place to reward yourself with a drink and to strike up conversation with expats and Japanese who frequent this friendly bar. In case you need more incentive, happy hour is nightly until 7pm and there's free live music Friday, Saturday, and some Tuesday nights featuring a wide range of music from jazz and funk to rock and blues. In addition, there's Celtic music on the first, third and, when there is one, fifth Wednesday of every month. If you're hungry, it also serves a decent fish and chips, bangers and mash, haggis, and its specialty, Raj Chicken, marinated in tandoori spices and yogurt for 24 hours.
